If you are aged 11-20 years old, fancy making your mark, getting involved and having your say, while learning lots and engaging with the Thamesmead community then we want to hear from you!
There's so much you can get involved in at The Link, from taking part in the day-to-day training and activity programmes to volunteering and becoming a part of Thamesmead’s most inspiring young people’s group, Thamesmead Youth Voice (TYV).
From day one, TYV have played a huge part in The Link Thamesmead; helping our parent company, Trust Thamesmead to gain a £5m myplace grant; influencing the programme offer and coming up with the centre's name and branding.
If you want to get involved in project and event planning, fundraising, volunteering and the future of The Link, then this is the group for you.
TYV's involvement at The Link
• Helping Trust Thamesmead to gain £5m funding
• Carrying out research to find out what opportunities and activities people want access
• Coming up with the name, The Link Thamesmead
• Assisting Trust Thamesmead in the branding and ethos
• Painting the outdoor murals
• Attending training and sitting on the interview panel to recruit staff
• Event management which has resulted in raising hundreds of pounds for charity
One thing the members always talk about is the confidence TYV gives them.
Members have gone on to become Head Girls at their schools and one member was even asked to apply for the Lions Clubs International search for a European Ambassador of the 21st Century because of her work in TYV.
TYV really is something special but don’t just take our word for it.
